I can’t stop grinning and feel like shouting “Squee!” every time I think about the Green Man series being picked up by Tivshe Publishing! J.L. Jackola and the team are working their magic to re-edit and repackage the books for publication beginning in either late 2022 or 2023. Tivshe currently has books 1-4 of the Green Man series. I am hard at work on Book 5.
In book 4, Carol discovers the deliciousness of plant-based milk. She makes almond milk hot cocoa for Sylvia. Carol makes the hot cocoa for Sylvia after she arrives after an unknown threat terrifies Sylvia. Here’s the recipe:
Per person:
- 1 c. almond unsweetened almond milk
- 1 Tbl. Cocoa powder
- 1 Tbl. Maple syrup
- ¼ tsp. of vanilla extract
- Small dash of salt
Place all ingredients in a saucepan and whisk until any lumps are gone, and it is thoroughly heated. Top with plant-based whipped cream and dark chocolate shavings for an extra special treat. Enjoy!
In book 5, Sylvia and Owen have settled into married life at their home in Bayside. Just before an incident that puts Sylvia in mortal danger, she makes the following recipe for Owen, their friend Bill, and herself for a cozy evening together. Owen asked Sylvia to make one of his favorite casseroles – Hot Chicken Salad for dinner. Sylvia pairs this casserole with a salad of mixed spring greens and a vinaigrette. This is one of my family’s favorites and perfect for any leftover chicken or turkey. I have also used plant-based chicken and other ingredients successfully in this recipe.
Preheat oven to 350
Spray a 9.5 x 13” pan with cooking spray
In a large bowl, combine:
- 2-2 cups shredded chopped chicken
- 1 c. mayonnaise
- 1 c. finely chopped celery
- 1 can finely chopped water chestnuts
- 1 Tbl. Lemon juice
- ½ c. slivered almonds
- 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ tsp. salt (or to taste)
- ½ tsp. pepper (or to taste – we have big pepper fans in my house. I use 1 tsp. coarsely ground pepper.)
Mix well and spread evenly in greased casserole. Top with crushed potato chips.
Bake at 350 for 20 – 25 minutes. Enjoy!
