I understand the snowdrops are blooming at the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh, Scotland. I’m so jealous. Even though our weather is mild and rainy this week, I adore snowdrops and could likely be a collector of Galanthus if given half a chance. My snowdrops are still deep in the ground, but I will keep an eye in my woodland garden for snowdrops and hellebores beginning to poke their leaves above the soil.
February 2nd, our American Groundhog Day, coincides with St. Brigid’s Day and Imbolc, two ancient holidays marking the beginning of spring. Even though our cold and snow usually come in February, there are days when spring peeks in.
And, it’s still January, so I need to be patient and enjoy the pastel colors of the skies and the water of the Chesapeake.
