Day 15 – Our Last Full Day in Scotland – Scotland Adventure 2025
Our last full day in Scotland. We traveled via the incredible Scottish bus system to the National Museum of Scotland. Kudos to the bus drivers and the very helpful app for maneuvering around the country. Scotland has made it incredibly easy for travelers. We enjoyed the day at the National Museum. For Americans, this is like the Smithsonian in one incredibly large building. We spent between five to six hours at the museum, constantly moving, and only covered a portion of it. It’s wonderful and free to travelers. Late this afternoon we met our friend Kat (travelkattours.com) and said our final goodbyes. We are so very grateful to Kat and her husband, Chris, for their patience, kindness, and friendship. Returning to the Air BnB was a bit dicey. The bus had standing room only, but we made it. Getting our boarding passes for the flight tomorrow also proved to be dicey, but we accomplished it. Now, our challenge, is to fit all the books we purchased into our luggage. It is a challenge for bibliomaniacs in a literary city. We found wonderful treasures.
I have been homesick for our family (human and furry + one reptile) but am also grieving leaving Scotland. I hope I can find a way to return soon, even though I did NOT purchase the Scottish Marble ring I was eyeing at the local shop. Scottish Marble is purported to be blessed by the fairies and guarantee a return to Scotland. My fingers and toes are crossed. I need to write the Elen book and query a Scottish publisher. With luck, I’ll return in the next year or so.
Many, many thanks for the support from our backers for this trip. I will work to create a wonderful book. I know I have said it previously, but pieces —mostly paragraphs and a page or two, keep slipping out and ending up in my journal. This trip has been the trip of a lifetime and great insight to the history and my characters. Thank you.
Here’s to safe travels on the morrow. Again, thank you.
